Creative on the road: fleece dog toys
A few weeks ago I collected all the dog toys that got damaged in brutal wars and I set up a surgery room for some serious stitching. The stuffing was brought back into place and legs and heads attached to bodies. My dogs absolutely love all these soft toys (especially Mogwai) but they don’t last that long (mostly because of Oona, Mogwai even has some of her puppy toys). Not long after my attempt to fix all the toys, I found a very innocent looking Oona and an exploded dog toy with stuffing everywhere. Time to make some new things! I looked for some fleece leftovers, cut some pieces and took these along with me on our 1600 km trip from Sweden to Belgium.
From my time at the scouts, I could remember a basic square knot, but I wanted to learn how to make a round one. And again, Mr. Google helped me out and I used this tutorial by Dalmation DIY. Super nice and inspiring blog by the way. Apparently, this thing is called a ‘twisted box knot’. It works the same as the regular square one but you lay out the pieces in a diagonal instead of straight.
The doggies are huge fans by now! Oona and Mogwai finally have a new toy to play tug of war. They growl and the winner quickly runs a victory tour around the table before the next round. Just great to see!
With the very last leftover from this pink color, I could also give this octopus his legs back. Mo loves toys to twist around so although it’s not much, she loves it 🙂
